Sensex, on Wednesday closed 332 points up at 27,708 on the back of strong earnings amid positive global cues. Among sectors, oil & gas, consumer durables and bank gained over 1.8% to 2.3% each. Among stocks, Hero Motocorp, Adani Ports and HDFC gained over 3.4% to 4.3% each. Market breadth was positive with 1,498 advances against 1,245 declines.
Nifty closed 127 points up at 8,603. Today, we expect markets to open on a negative note amid negative global cues.
US Markets closed on a mixed note. Dow closed 0.2% higher while Nasdaq closed flat. US markets, today, will see data releases on Advance GDP q/q, Core Durable Goods Orders m/m, Advance GDP Price Index q/q, Durable Goods Orders m/m, Revised UoM Consumer Sentiment and Revised UoM Inflation Expectations.
Asian markets are trading on a mixed note; Nikkei is trading 0.3% higher while Hang Seng is trading flat. SGX Nifty is trading 35 points down at 8,660. Indian ADRs ended the day on a mixed note. Among financial ADRs, ICICI Bank closed 0.4% higher, while HDFC Bank gained 0.5%. Among IT ADRs, Wipro closed 1.3% down and Infosys lost 1.5%. Tata Motors ADR closed flat.
